Johan Rockström is the Director of the Stockholm Resilience Centre and a Professor in Water Systems and Global Sustainability at Stockholm University. An internationally recognized scientist on global sustainability issues, he leads the science on planetary boundaries—an increasingly established
approach to human prosperity in the Anthropocene, which is at the heart of Big World Small Planet. He is an advisor to several governments, international policy processes, and business networks, and has published several books and over 100 scientific articles. He chaired the design phase for Future Earth and currently chairs the Earth League, the EAT Initiative, and the CGIAR program on Water, Land, and Ecosystems. He was honored as “Swede of the Year” in 2009, and voted Sweden’s most influential person on environmental issues in 2012 and 2013.
